The Area Agency on Aging 1-B works directly with many senior-focused organizations and businesses. We are a leader in the aging network in southeast Michigan and Metro Detroit—helping find ways that professionals, businesses and public and private organizations can collaborate, innovate and work together to help older adults and adults with disabilities thrive. Some of the ways we work with other organizations include:
Are you a social worker, nurse, home care agency employee or other professional who serves older adults or people with disabilities? Our Professional Training courses are tailored just for people who work with seniors. They are offered at low cost and you can often earn CE credit.
We often contract directly with health care systems and health care plans to help them meet goals related to reducing readmissions, health and behavior-change coaching and enrollment of hard-to-reach populations.
We maintain a pool of agencies that we work with to provide direct care to people enrolled in our MI-Choice and Community Living Programs.
We contract with organizations in the community to provide some of the services to seniors that we fund. This includes many of the services we fund via the Older Americans and Older Michiganians acts (Meals on Wheels, Congregate Meals, Adult Day, Home Injury Control, Ombudsman and Legal services are some examples).
