Making Your Mark
Have you taken on a lifelong goal? Did you bring a new business or idea to life? Still looking for a way you can contribute to “the world” and more fully enjoy a life as unique as you are? Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Do you express yourself with art? Check out the Loeschner Art Competition. Artists inspired by the grounds and collections of Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, Michigan can enter
a drawing, print, pastel, painting or photograph. The winning creation
becomes part of the Meijer Gardens’ permanent collection. It’s displayed and reproduced on posters and note cards with full credit to the artist. In addition, the winner receives a $5,000 cash award. Deadline for entries is November 1, 2016. Visit online at www.meijergardens.org/contact/loesch ner-art-competition/ for further details.
Have your children and grandchildren grown up, but you still have more to give to a child? Be a role model and share your knowledge and support with the next generation as a volunteer Foster Grandparent. Foster Grandparents give about 20 hours of their time each week with the special needs children with whom they are matched. The volunteers receive 40 hours of pre-service and other training and are compensated with an hourly stipend and transportation reimbursement. To find out more about how you can make a difference in the life of a child with your encouragement and guidance, contact http://www.mafgscp.org/.
