The Caregiver Expo
A FREE

for family caregivers

Who should attend the Caregiver Expo?
If you are concerned about a family member or friend who is aging or disabled; if you are already providing care and support to an aging or disabled loved one, whether it be an hour a week or 24 hours a day; or if you are concerned about your own future and wellbeing, the Caregiver Expo is an opportunity to learn about the resources and services available to help you make decisions, improve your own health and wellbeing, and gain new ideas and perspective. The Caregiver Expo brings experts, businesses and nonprofit organizations together under one roof, for one day. You can connect with professionals, providers and other caregivers for options and guidance.
What happens at the Caregiver Expo?
When you attend the Caregiver Expo, you can:
• Attend educational seminars on 12 different topics (see titles and schedule on page 5)
• Visit with more than 120 exhibitors specializing in products and services to assist caregivers
• Sit down with an AAA 1-B Resource Specialist or with a Medicare Medicaid Assistance Program Counselor to get answers to your questions on services, resources, Medicare, Medicaid, including referrals to local services.
• Network with other caregivers
• Enjoy complimentary refreshments in the morning and cash and carry snacks in the
afternoon
• Win great prizes and giveaways
What if I can’t leave my loved one at home?
You can register your loved one to receive quality, onsite care, free of charge, while you attend the expo. Respite Care at the Expo’s professional care is provided in a designated room at the Suburban Collection Showplace. Experienced and specially trained staff from the Alzheimer’s Association – Greater Michigan Chapter and from Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers provide the care and supervision during this five-hour event. Reservations are required for Respite Care at the Expo. To reserve a space for your loved one for respite care at the expo, call the Area Agency on Aging 1-B at 800-852-7795 by October 9, 2015. Space is limited for this service.
Do I need to pre-register to attend the Caregiver Expo?
No, there is no pre-registration for the event. General event registration will take place at the door on October 17, 2015.
